Re: Application: Blackcobra, 80 Warlock
Good day, and thank you for your application.
I am Natarumah, the magical DPS mentor for Saga. I've been looking at your gear and talents, and have seen that there are some things that really need improvement before you will be able to raid Nxxramas. Gear There's still quite some work to be done on your gear; most of it is Merciless or Brutal Gladiator's, which was level 70 PvP gear for season 2 and 3. I even spy a belt from Karazhan! ^_^ Anyway, here's a list of things you may want to go for, to make yourself viable for raiding Naxxramas, because currently you are far below what is required for Naxxramas. For instance, you now have 1.5% hit rating, while you will need a number closer to 17%. This is because you have very little Hit gear, and it's mostly level 70. Gear from reputations Exalted with the Ebon Blade gives the [Belt of Dark Mending]. Exalted with the Wyrmrest Accord gives the [Sandals of Crimson Fury]. Revered with the Kirin'Tor gives the [Flameheart Spell Scalpel], which can be combined with the offhand from badges (see below) Gear from heroics What gear you want really depends on as what kind of warlock you want to raid; destruction likes crit and haste; demonology likes stamina and spellpower; affliction likes spellpower and crit. I can't make an entire list of things divided by spec, so I will just make a short list of items from heroics that are good all-round items. Shoulder - [Silken Amice of the Ymirjar] - Skadi the Ruthless, Utgarde Pinnacle Heroic Legs - [Breeches of the Caller] - Ingvar the Plunderer, Utgarde Keep Heroic Wrist - [Azure Cloth Bindings] - Cyanigosa, Violet Hold Heroic Wand - [Wand of the San'layn] - Prince Keleseth, Utgarde Keep Heroic Chest - [Water-Drenched Robe] - Ichiron, Violet Hold Heroic These are just some examples of really good level 80 gear that can be gotten from heroics, don't take it as a "must have list". Gear from vendors/crafting The quickest way to get a full set of Hit gear and some decent spellpower is by asking a tailor to make the Ebonweave tailoring set, which focuses on +hit. Use these items to patch any holes in your current gear, especially the belt and the boots you have now. Once you run some decent heroics, you can buy the following badge items, which will serve you well: [Ward of the Violet Citadel] - 25 badges [Plush Sash of Guzbah] - 40 badges Overall, the safest thing gear-wise is for a tailor to make items that are some upgrades, so that you are geared enough for heroics. Then take some friends or draft some people you know into heroics to get you some items you want, and badges. As you do this, your reputations go up (so you can buy upgrades there) and you can use the badges to buy items for which you have not yet gotten an upgrade. Talents The spec you have now is an all-round leveling/grinding spec. Are you planning to raid with this spec as well? It can be done, but then I'd suggest a few changes: Get rid of the fear/howl of terror talents, since we don't really use them in raids. Instead, you might want to take Dark Pact (for mana) and Improved Demonic Aegis (As it also increases the bonus spell power you gain from your armor spell, based on Spirit). On the whole, could you tell me what would be the spec you'd take for raiding, and what you see your role as? Run-and-dot? Blaster? Demonology? I am curious, and eager to learn and advise. I'd say for now the gear is more important, though. You really need that upgrade. Greetz! _____________________________

Re: Application: Blackcobra, 80 Warlock
I assume you want to join the Saga community, and not the guild itself, as you already have a guild. As for the trial run, you can whisper Asfalore (Guildleader) or one of the officers (Aanya and ildria, for example) and when next we'll have a trial spot open, we'll inform you.
![]() As for the trial run itself, it usually is a difficult heroic instance or a raid we are going to, and the officers/mentors will look at how you act and how you perform. After that, they will tell you the results. Good luck and show us your best! Natarumah _____________________________

Re: Application: Blackcobra, 80 Warlock
Hello again,
We had a little talk about your gems and enchants, and it seems you mistook the gems and enchants required for raiding with those for PvP. While it may seem like it makes little difference, raiding with PvP gear (unless the gear is really, really better than the raid you are going to do) means you will do less damage overall. I also promised a few links to good warlock blogs and sites, to help you get along a bit. Here are a few: http://www.locksucks.com/interesting-reads/ is a good blog, and with some good guides. Just stay away from the "sponsored" sections. Elitist Jerks has good information, but it is in difficult English. http://elitistjerks.com/f80/t36783-warlock_simple_questions_simple_answers/ has everything you'd need to play a warlock laid out simple. For in-depth details: Affliction: http://elitistjerks.com/f80/t37900-dots_you_affliction_warlock_thread/ Demonology: http://elitistjerks.com/f80/t37474-demonology_thread/ Destruction: http://elitistjerks.com/f80/t38033-mage_equivalent_destruction_warlock/ As for general advice: You always need enough +Hit to be hitcapped (17% total). You always need spellpower. Almost all warlocks have average use for haste and crit, but Destruction makes the most out of it. Deep-affliction locks have a talent that effectively makes their dots crit. For them, crit is also good. On average, you'd need to be able to push over 1500 DPS quite easily, preferable closer to 2000 DPS. This can take some trying, and depends on a few things: * Keeping your dots up * Making sure you have the right curse on (agony or elements, depending on raid composition) * Making full use of cooldown skills and cooldown items * Not dying Trust me, nothing kills your DPS like dying. Now, currently you have enchanted and socketed for armor, stamina, resilience and the like. This is perfect for PvP, but needless in raids. When a boss hits you, you are dead in 2-3 blows anyway, resilience or not. That's why we have tanks, they don't need to dish out a lot of damage (but sometimes they do) and instead they soak it for us DPSers. Best thing is to gem for +hit until you hit 17% total (including talents and everything) and enchant for spellpower. No matter what specc you use, this will mean you can use the same gear even if you were to respecc. I'd suggest reading up on the guides and thinking very hard about the difference between PvE and PvP, because if you mix those two up, you will die before you get to do much damage, and then I will be sent to haunt your ass to make a difference ^_^ Anyway, good luck reading and if you are having problems, tell me specifically which they are, and I can ask around with out guild lockies what exactly to do or change, as I have some knowledge on locks, but am far from an authority on the subject. Re: Application: Blackcobra, 80 Warlock
Hello Blackcobra,
Today you've had your trial run with us in naxx-10, and sadly I am going to have to tell you that we will not invite you to become a member of the Saga community. You have done great effort to upgrade your gear, but despite that, your DPS was not very impressive. Maybe the spec you have right now is not something you have a good feeling with, or perhaps there are some basic warlock tips that have eluded you. I caught you using Drain Soul on mobs which were above 33% health (From which it deals more damage), and it's a finisher spell. With the gear you have, you should've been able to do more DPS than you did. Finally, having to remind you several times of raiding days and times is not a great way to impress people, especially if the raid is already in the calendar. You do pick up the moves quickly, however, as you have shown in the Heigan fight, for which I must commend you, very well done. In short, I would reconsider if the spec you have right now is really good for you, and whether raiding full-time fits in your schedule (as your trial run was placed later and later) and I was concerned this may not be a one-time occurence. I wish you good luck in your future endeavours, and I hope you find the spot in Azeroth you are proud to call home. Greetz, Natarumah _____________________________
